Make a Miffy bookmark

33

STEP 1

Start with a square piece of paper with colour on one side, and fold it in half diagonally. We used a 15cm x 15cm piece of paper in one of Miffy’s favourite colours.

STEP 2

Once you have unfolded the first fold, turn the paper and make a diagonal fold going the opposite way. When doing origami, make sure to crease the paper properly. It’ll make your origami Miffy look much smarter.

STEP 3

Fold the paper horizontally, then unfold. Turn the paper 90o to the right and repeat this step. Once you have made all of your folds, place the paper coloured-side-up on the table and pinch in the corners. (9)

STEP 4

You will now have a coloured diamond shape. Make sure the open side is pointing up and lay flat on your table. Fold down the top corner right to the tip of the bottom corner so you have a white diamond.

STEP 5

Turn the right corner of the diamond over as if you were turning the page of a book.

STEP 6

Now take the left-hand corner and fold it into the middle. THen, turn back to the centre and fold over the left flap.

STEP 7

Repeat the previous step on the opposite side by folding in the right-hand corner to the centre of the diamond.

STEP 8

Return to the centre. Now it’s time to make Miffy’s ears! This bit can seem a little tricky, but all you have to do is take the top corner of the white part and pull it down a little bit, just like the above.

STEP 9

Repeat this step on the other side to make the other ear. Fold under any of the points to round off the ears.

STEP 10

Nearly there! Fold up the bottom of the diamond to round off Miffy’s chin and you’re done with the folding!

STEP 11

Now for the finishing touches. Get a black pen and carefully draw on Miffy’s face. Make sure the ink is dry before using your new Miffy bookmark to save your place in your favourite book!
